Chairman’s Statement on Arizona Senate Audit

We need our elections to be self-evident of who the winner is. All of the drama, controversy, and conspiracy of the 2020 elections is a symptom of our two-party dominated political system. Two cults of power-hungry authoritarian camps determined to hold power to control your life.

When a party loses an election, they lose power.

Libertarians believe power belongs to We The People. “We support election systems that are more representative of the electorate… We oppose laws that effectively exclude alternative candidates and parties, deny ballot access, gerrymander districts, or deny the voters their right to consider all legitimate alternatives.” [Taken from LP National Platform]

Maricopa County Libertarian Party members, as a minority party often shafted by the two-party system, deserve to know that their votes are counted correctly. We will only get there if our elections are: Transparent, Trackable, and Publicly Verified.

The election system in Maricopa County may be one of the best in the country. However, due to a series of events, comprehensive audits have been sanctioned by the Arizona State Senate. As a recognized political party, the Maricopa County Libertarian Party has a vested interest in all audits conducted.

That is why the MCLP sued the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in February for excluding all political parties from the audit they conducted.

When the Senate Audit started in April, we didn’t need to sue for access! As Chairman, I’m working closely with Senate Liason, Ken Bennett, and have been present at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and will continue to be present when the audit resumes next week.

It is critical for the audit to finish, as stopping it at this stage would cause further harm to the perceived election integrity of Arizona. We don’t want people to join the “Mark Twain Party” – the party that believes voting doesn’t matter. We’re trying to grow the Libertarian Party.

It is time to un-gaslight people and prove their conspiracies true or false. I look forward to the completion of the audit and to fairly critique the results with impartiality. I encourage all Arizonans to do the same.
