Election Season is here again. Now more than ever, we need to work together to ensure as many people in Maricopa County have a Liberty Option on the ballot.

In fact, the last Libertarian (with an L next to their name) who ran on the Arizona ballot was Gary Johnson in 2016. You may not have been aware of this, but did you know members of the Arizona State Legislature, voted to disproportionally raise the signature requirements of Libertarian candidates? They did this because they fear Libertarians ‘taking votes away’. The two old parties think they own your vote.

The problem is, their plan is successful. Since the new signature requirements became law, we have struggled to secure ballot access for our candidates. In 2018, when our Governor and US Senate candidates turned in their nomination petitions, they were challenged in court — and essentially kicked off the ballot. It was the first time in 20 years that we didn’t run a gubernatorial LP candidate in Arizona.

We can’t let that happen again in 2020.

So far in the 2020 election, the Libertarian nominee for US President is the only one guaranteed to be on the ballot. But if we are able to find and activate potential candidates to run, engage our grass-roots volunteers, and organize — we have the possibility to run a Liberty Option up and down the ballot giving the Arizona voter multiple opportunities to vote gold.
